In short: You. Any custom code you develop, you will also own. Your applications will still require Appzio license to run, but once you have a license, you are free to choose from any Appzio supported hosting providers to host your application.
Appzio applications are hosted by Appzio and Appzio certified hosting partners. Hosting provided by Appzio is run on Google Cloud, which provides superior performance and reliability. It is possible to enable scalable hosting, which adjusts based on your usage on real time and you pay only for the extra resource usage. You can also enable CDN hosting for your app's assets.
Appzio has a client-server architecture, where application's full configuration is done from the backend and the client gets instructions from the server. There is no code conversion or abstraction layer slowing things down, your client is fully native code and no part of the PHP or NodeJS code is run on the device.
Client requires internet connection when its first started and for any submitting of the data. Client will preserve its state and if you start it without internet connection, you can browse all preloaded content.
All Appzio applications come with an admin panel, which can also be easily extended to cover custom database tables.
Applications are fully white label with the paid license. With the free license, there is an Appzio branded splash screen.
NodeJS library is currently in beta testing and will be released in the first half of 2018
